Relieving Dolphins

In my experience, an engaging blog begins with vibrant experiences, great insight, and wonderful storytelling.

It has been said over the years by various friends, and also not so friendly people that I had an odd and rather comedic life that was fast paced and filled with weird inexplainable situations and dramas. Not only that, but in the world of education, I have acquired knowledge on subjects that not every 21 year old young woman has given the time of day, or searched to find the answers to. Exposure is a large part of it I'm sure, and we don't all find ourselves in it. But through good or bad I regret nothing, and to this day and onwards, seek everything.
I hope to provoke thoughts on as broad a scale as I can, and write about everything possible. Topics will include my Songwriting and Music career, my university experiences and future educational plans, the wonderful world of Pole-dancing, Modelling, Fashion, my love of Gaming, Singing, Piano, Art, Literature, all things equestrian, and many more non-related oddities generally involving humour...
The gratification will be my enjoyment of sharing all of this with someone, as often it is hard to pin any one person down for long enough to let these kinds of things out. So thank you for your time and I hope you are just as perplexed as I find myself every day.

You are probably wondering why the title of this blog seemed fitting, so I would like to explain that as it is rather silly. Today, after a massive four day journey which I will write about in my next post (a bit of a strange adventure you see), I was met by one of my closest friends at the train station in Brighton. Our aim was to make use immediately of the wonderful family discount card I had been given by my mother earlier that day, which entitled me to 20% off some rather expensive food and things. Savings matter to students. They can spend the difference on more important purchases involving leisurely liquid consumption or a new skirt. After filling the trolly with all of my belongings from travel and our potential dinner (wine included) we were stalked by some friends who appeared, dumped their food on us, and hoped for a similar saving.
Outside, we bumped into another friend, and in wonderful spirits we found ourselves uncontrollably laughing. Not bad for a cold sunday at 5pm. One friend commented on how smiling is meant to release endorphins, no matter how you really feel. Another misheard the statement as a comment on 'relieving dolphins'. This then became our topic of conversation, as we played with the idea of stopping people in the street and telling them that when they smile they relieve dolphins, and debated whether anyone would mishear it again and find it quite a benign question or if we would end up getting hit.

I bring this up, because I don't think I have ever discussed servicing sea-life to the depth I did today, and because it is good to remember to take things lightly, embrace the English language and perhaps make someone smile and relieve dolphins themselves today. Too often things are said in passing, and people crack down on it as if it is gospel. Nothing disappears into the ether anymore, it is hammered in and regurgitated to every person that can be ensnared. It is important to remember the freedom that humour should give, and the fun and excitement in this vast world of differences we are a part of. Not to take every statement you hear to heart, and to give people a chance to surprise you.

I hope you enjoy my next blog where I will elaborate on a few topics by describing a very packed adventure I had a few days ago! So much wonder in four days! Until then...

x AKC
